Great Bedroom Linen Source for Chic Décor Ideas!

It’s the small details that make the décor in a bedroom. A sumptuous bed is an important part of the overall look and feel of a warm and inviting bedroom. Much of what makes a bed luxurious is beautiful coordinating linens and all the essential bedding components such as sheets, pillow cases and shams, bed skirt, duvet, duvet cover and lots of decorative throw pillows. Choosing coordinating colors and patterns for your bedding is the key to creating a beautiful look. Don’t be afraid to mix textures such as crisp cotton or linen sheets with a satin duvet. My mother had a beautiful hand made crocheted afghan throw for a bedspread with looked absolutely divine with the antique furniture in the room. The beautiful cotton sheets with a French provincial floral pattern came through the eyelets of the bedspread and the look was exquisite. The pillows were adorned with cotton doilies sewn right on the pillow shams. Another great idea is to use two bed skirts, one under the mattress and one under the box spring for a beautiful ruffles effect. This would be gorgeous in a young girl’s room….imagine a pink and white print with a lace overlay….fit for a princess. To make the most out of your duvet, stuff it in a cover that is a size smaller that the quilt itself. The effect is a big, lofty, luxurious looking bed cover. And don’t forget to pile on pillows of all shapes and sizes such as neck rolls. Again, use a mixture of fabrics to make the most impact on the overall look. Don’t be afraid to experiment with beads on the fabric, tassels, piping, etc…

Consider your preference and health needs as well when choosing your bedding fabrics and colors. Since colors have been proven to affect your moods, red may or may not be a color for you bedroom décor. (Red is said to be an aggressive color and may not feel restful). If you have sensitivities to certain elements, choose natural fabrics such as cotton linens. Do your homework by reading up on linen thread count differences. There are great resources on the web.
