May 01, 2003 By: Kristen McCarthy Find warmth with comforter beddingComforter bedding can be labeled 100% pure, when in reality its only 75% pure. Keep in mind the best type of comforter bedding are Siberian down, while the worst are Duck feather. Comforter bedding has something called ‘downproofness’, which is measured in millimeters. Lower numbers mean better down proofing. An air porosity test, meaning how much air can pass through a fabric, is also a measure of ‘downproofness’. Other factors to check out are the comforter’s cleanliness, and its weight. Look for high thread counts when you shop for comforter bedding, as it indicates how light and soft the comforter will be. The thread count is the number of threads that are contained in one square inch of fabric. The tightness of the weave also prevents leakage to the outside air and the little feathers from escaping. There are different types of comforter bedding, from synthetic to silk, but all are not superior in their traits. A good idea is to comparison shop before you make your decision.
