Warm down comforters can be luxurious

There are different types of down comforters, from synthetic to silk, but all are not superior in their traits. Good down comforters should always be put to the test.

Look for high thread counts when you shop for down comforters, as it indicates how light and soft the comforter will be. The thread count is the number of threads that are contained in one square inch of fabric. The tightness of the weave also prevents leakage to the outside air and the little feathers from escaping.

Down comforters ‘downproofness’ is measured in millimeters. Lower numbers mean better down proofing. An air porosity test, meaning how much air can pass through a fabric, is also a measure of ‘downproofness’. Other factors to check out are the comforters cleanliness, and its weight.

Down comforters can be labeled 100% pure, when in reality its only 75% pure. Keep in mind the best types of comforters are Siberian down, while the worst are Duck feather.
